THE BACCHAE

Euripides - University of Montana 1975 - Director Roland Mienholtz

All the speaking characters were masked. The masks were made by a former student from the costume sketches. The chorus and the muscians wore very stylized makeup. Wigs were made from nylon "horse hair" and custom constructed in the costumeshop. All armour and hand beaten gold accessories were made of stiffened industrial felt, coated with Swifts Flexible Adhesive and then painted with either spray paint or Zoe's shoe paint. All costumes included "dangling noise maker" trims. All these were made from contemproary found objects, such as curtain rings, bottle caps, plastic spoons etc.
