The secure computing and networking effort concentrates on secure
computer systems and networks, and is largely focused on the technology
issues surrounding large-scale network protection. Projects now
underway include automated distributed network defenses, automated
network router management, network attack and defense simulations,
and analysis of networks and systems for specific susceptibility.
Included in the effort is the anti-crackers program, which provides
the world1s largest experimental testbed for network attack and
defense to college students in computer security courses and facilitates
a joint effort to catalog and describe off-the-internet attacks
and provide for the common defense against them.
